Functional Care and Wellness Support

The Somatic Self-Care System is an ongoing, self-care and recovery system designed to help individuals continue recognizing and organizing the body patterns and signals identified during their Functional Wellness Assessment . Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, this support system helps organize how accumulated stress and ongoing demands may be influencing physical responses, symptom timing, tension and recovery patterns, adjustment patterns and overall function. Support focuses on understanding how patterns may develop, repeat, adapt and shift over time in response to recovery habits, movement, tension levels, breathing mechanics and environmental demands. This system exists alongside traditional healthcare — not to replace it but to support what happens between and beyond it, where many day-to-day patterns actually occur. What “Somatic” Means ...

Body Patterns vs. Functional Medicine

The body is constantly responding, adjusting and communicating.

This space focuses on how those responses show up in daily life — through patterns that can often be felt before anything clearly appears on testing.

How the Body Communicates

The body communicates through patterns such as:

  • tension levels and body guarding
  • pressure through the abdomen or chest
  • breathing patterns
  • stress load and capacity
  • compensation across systems

These patterns can shift, build or redistribute depending on what the body is managing.

What This Can Feel Like

  • symptoms that move or change
  • tight or restricted breathing
  • pressure that builds or shifts
  • fatigue without a clear reason
  • a sense that something feels “off”

These experiences don’t always follow a clear or consistent pattern — but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

What This Work Focuses On

This work focuses on recognizing how the body is functioning over time — not just what it looks like in a moment.

  • how pressure is moving
  • where tension is being held
  • how breathing is adapting
  • how the body is compensating

So that what you are experiencing becomes more organized and easier to understand.

How This Differs From Functional Medicine

Functional medicine often focuses on identifying internal imbalances through lab testing, biomarkers and targeted interventions.

This approach looks at something different:

  • how the body is organizing itself in real time
  • how tension patterns are forming through daily life
  • how symptoms may reflect pressure, tension or stress load

Understanding body patterns is not about diagnosing conditions or replacing medical care.

It is about helping you better understand what your body may already be showing.

Where This Fits

This can be helpful when:

  • symptoms feel unclear or inconsistent
  • patterns don’t seem to “add up”
  • you’re trying to understand what your body is doing
